Sorenson Medical Selected as In-Network Provider for Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah
SALT LAKE CITY (April 4, 2005) - Sorenson Medical today announced that Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah has selected Sorenson Medical as an in-network provider of portable medical infusion pumps. Sorenson Medical is a world leader in developing innovative, high technology, ambulatory infusion pumps, and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah is part of the Regence Group, the largest affiliation of health plans in the northwest and intermountain states, collectively covering nearly three million people.

The ambIT pumps are one-fourth the size and weight of other ambulatory infusion pumps and can be carried in a convenient belt pack, giving patients greater mobility and flexibility while receiving pain medication, chemotherapy treatment, or antibiotics. By incorporating microchip technology that's both flexible and simple to program, treatment profiles-such as flow rates and infusion duration-are easily modified to suit the unique needs of each patient. Battery-operated, the pumps are designed to assist patients in a comfortable recovery while at home. AmbIT pumps offer improved cost-effectiveness because they are reusable but comparably priced to many single-use, disposable pumps.
Sorenson Medical offers four types of ambIT pumps. The ambIT PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia) and ambIT LPM (Local Pain Management) pumps are available for post-operative local pain management including orthopedic, general, obstetric/gynecological, plastic and podiatric surgery.
