Sorenson Medical has a tradition of medical device development that spans over three decades. This tradition has always focused on innovative products that are developed and engineered to solve the needs of the medical community with reliable, value oriented solutions.

The ambIT® family of ambulatory infusion pumps continues this tradition by combining a microprocessor control unit with a unique, patented pumping mechanism. The ambIT® pump provides reliable, accurate ambulatory infusion therapy at a fraction of the cost of competitive electronic pumps.

The company's founder, James LeVoy Sorenson has developed and patented many medical devices that are routinely used today. Some of his inventions include the over-the-needle catheter, the disposable surgical mask, IV flow control, autotransfusion devices and cardiac output catheters. This spirit of innovation has always played a key role in the development of Sorenson Medical's products. The needs of the health care market are analyzed and innovative solutions are developed to address these needs. This innovative approach has led to numerous patents, and a history of products that have been commercially and clinically successful. Over our history we have not only developed and manufactured our own medical devices but have also sold or licensed our designs to a number of major medical device companies.

Our engineering staff is highly qualified and has a broad base of experience in the design of electronic ambulatory infusion pumps. This background and experience is used to translate the exacting requirements of clinical infusion pumps into cost effective and reliable designs. Our engineers utilize the latest design, modeling and manufacturing techniques to develop and optimize our pumps, catheters and accessories. Before they are released to the market, our pumps undergo performance testing, reliability testing, shipping tests and shock/vibration tests to establish device performance. The design and performance specifications of our infusion pumps are developed, verified and validated to the most stringent guidelines of global regulatory requirements including FDA, IEC, ISO and CEN. Our proprietary design process ensures that our products are thoroughly tested and validated in order to ensure reliability in the marketplace.
