History Sorenson Medical, headquartered just outside Salt Lake City, UT, develops, designs, manufactures and markets innovative medical devices.
The Sorenson name is synonymous with the development and introduction of innovative medical device technologies that have changed the way people are cared for. Through medical device companies founded by the American biotechnology leader James LeVoy Sorenson, developments such as the first cardio-vascular lab computer system to monitor the human heart in real-time, the first disposable paper surgical mask, the first blood autotransfusion equipment, and the first plastic venous catheter have provided lasting invaluable contributions to the improvement of healthcare for people throughout the world. Out of this remarkable heritage, Sorenson Medical was founded in 1999 and is continuing to develop and market innovative technologies to provide better ways to care for people.
In the infusion device market Sorenson Medical has developed a new line of low cost, single therapy electronic ambulatory infusion devices called ambIT® Electronic Infusion Pumps. About one-fourth the size and weight of other ambulatory infusion pumps, the ambIT® pumps deliver a wide range of medications precisely to the patient. Incorporating microchip technology that's both flexible and simple to use, treatment profiles - such as flow rates and infusion volumes - are easily modified to suit the unique needs of each patient. At about 1/5 to 1/10 the cost of other electronic infusion pumps, ambIT® pumps provide continuous, PCA, or local pain management therapies to patients either in the hospital, in alternate site environments, or at home.
Sorenson Medical's leadership team is committed to continuing the heritage that was established through the insight and innovations of James LeVoy Sorenson and is dedicated to excellence in patient care, total customer satisfaction, and continuous quality improvement.
